Both ***** matches IMO, Angle/Benoit is my favorite American match of all time. (I'm recently having a tough time deciding if Angle/Benoit RR '03, Ultimo Dragon/Shinjiro Ohtani - NJPW J Crown 1996 or Mitsuharu Misawa/Kenta Kobashi - NOAH 3/1/2003 is my favorite match of all time).

I'm not up to the task as of right now but I feel the need to own this thread with my knowledge of obscure old school/Japanese matches.

One match I won't really 'agree' with, which is HHH/Austin. It was a **** 1/2 star match in my opinion, but it was missing what I felt it needed for that ***** star quality. Angle/Benoit is very very close for me, so I'd give in to giving that *****, Austin/Hart is at ***** for me though. It'd comment more on all three matches, but rather late here, I'm lacking in my indies knowledge, though all the NWA ones I've mainly seen and thought extremely highly of as well.

I haven't watched it in forever; but that was my original thoughts from watching it on PPV back 6 years ago, I shall watch it again to give a more detailed opinion with more details (later today), because some of my memory is foggy on that match. It was six years ago afterall.

Kawada/Misawa 6/3/94 - This match had fantastic and perfect psychology. During the dying stages, you could just tell that Kawada was tired of wrestling under Misawa's shadow and just wanted him to die and go away. It had a extremely heated feud behind, In-ring work was also superb, excellent build up to a lot of big moves. The emotion was spot on and it was so great that it even made the match seem like a shoot to me. I would consider this as the best and my favourite match ever. No WWE match can compare.
