Classic UWF On ESPN Classic
The other day I was flipping through the channels around midnight (my time) and I stopped it on ESPN Classic. It was a commercial, but the guide said the show was UWF wrestling. So I waited for commercials to be over and watched it. It was the old UWF with stars like Doctor Death, Paul Orndorff and so many others. I was in hog heaven so to speak because I love old school stuff when it comes to wrestling. So, I decided to make this thread so we can discuss the good old days of UWF and talk about the shows on ESPN Classic.
I have recorded/DVR'ed all of them since the other day (basically, 3 hours worth thus far), when I get a chance to watch em all I'll review em in this thread.

I watch it sometimes. It's pretty awful. There's an episode of Cheap Seats (show on Classic) where they do a Mystery Science Theater 3000 style commentary on it. It's pretty hilarious.

I think they're talking about the Mid-South UWF, not the Japanese one (even though they should put some 90s All-Japan on there as well.)

Yeah, I just saw this last night. I saw Mic Foley (Cactus Jack), wrestling someone, and I saw Bob Orton cut a promo. Pretty good stuff. Didnt know most of them on the next show, but it was still good old fashioned 80's wrasslin

I watched my whole first show on Friday night at 10:30(my time) and it wasnt too bad but wasnt that good either.
B. Brian Blair took on some Japanese Jobber beating him with the Scorpion in about 3 minutes.
Billy Jack Haynes took on some little white jobber beating him in about 90 seconds with a Leg Drop
Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff took on Dr. Death Steve Williams and went to a Double Count Out in about 12-13 minutes.
There was also promos from Bob Orton and Luna Vachon on it.
Overall it was just below average.
Its Herb Abrams(sp) UWF from the early 90s. The one I saw was from October 15,1990.

I read that the first week one of the shows got a 0 rating. So it at PWI I think.
As I did enjoy some matches, it seemed all the matches that were ok always ended in a DQ. I do have to say I enjoyed hearing Bruno Sammartino and getting too see Nikita Koloff, Cactus Jack and Dr. Death.
I had heard rumors of ICW(New England Based promotion) taking the spot of UWF soon.

I watched again last night the second show and this one just completely blew.
Bob Orton played about as bad of a face as his son Randy did against some masked jobber.
Nikita Koloff fought some jobber who would have beat him had it not been for the manager distracting foreign object angle.
the ME was a tag match with I think the guys names were Sunny Beach and Steve Ray taking on Johnny Kid and Stone Coal which was just a terrible match.
The whole show sucked and than to top it all off Bob Orton cut a face promo to end the show which as I said had to be just as bad or worse than Randy's face promos.
