Default The Rise and Fall of WCW?

The Rise and Fall of WCW?

What really brought WCW to shut down.I loved watching WCW, but it was so hard for me to watch the whole show, because I would switch back to RAW, and vice versa.WCW what a company, that was managed horribly, back when they were the NWA.The Arenas they performed in front of, were similar to TNA's, small southern cities.Everything changed, when Eric Brischoff became part of the Company. It when from a Company, from getting their asses kicked by the WWE, to a Company who would compete with the WWE with it's Monday Nitro show. When WCW started to get some buzz, they needed talent, and they found them in ECW and WWE.One name started it all.Hulk Hogan.

Hogan was done with the WWE and Wrestling period, and acting was his next career, right like he could act.WCW still needed some fresh faces in the Company, to bring in viewers, and Nash and Hall were great pick-ups.Now WCW had the money similar to the Yankees Payroll, so money came an issue for them.I don't know too much about Hall, but I know Nash's Wife was about to have a Baby, and he would need more money in his pockets to provide for his Family.

He took the deal, and they pose as Outsiders from the WWE.Within months, Hogan joined the Outsiders to make the NWO.It was great to see Hogan in heel character, as I was interested every night, from that day on.WCW was in business, as they picked up other former WWE Wrestlers in Savage and Luger, as the viewers must of been, woah all the WWE Wrestlers are going to Nitro, that's cool to see.It worked for the short time, but in the long run no.Every Monday Night, the show was Live and they had the advantage over WWE, giving away results, I thought that was fucked up, but hell people kept watching.84 or 85 weeks in an row, WCW kicked the shit out of WWE in the Rating wars, and that's the only positive thing to come out of that Company. Two things brought down the Company in my opinion. One the inability to push talent. The big names were always on top, of the WWE pushed young talent all the time.Edge/Christian the Hardys, the Dudleys, are just some examples.

The young WCW had the talent, but the ego of Eric came in the way, I knew it for sure.WCW didn't care about the young talent, their purpose was to beat the WWE every Monday Night, that's all.The mismanagement comes back up, as Eric had Ted Turned pay tons of money to keep Wrestlers happy.I knew WCW would shut down, when I saw the NWO and NWO Wolf Pack join forces, it didn't make sense. The NWO back and white, as the anti-WCW, and the Wolf Pack was the savior versus them.I knew that was the last straw.Without WCW closing down, we would never saw Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Benoit, three great Wrestlers. Now WCW should get standing ovation, but I wished that WCW would of been managed better, because it might of been still going if it was.

Because of AOL and TNT, WCW wouldn't have lasted even if you had Russo and McMahon running it from scratch.
