He can speak English but it can be hard to understand sometimes. It will be incredible to have one of the best BJJ fighters on the planet as a coach of TUF. Mir as the other coach doesn't mean a whole lot to me but not really any other choices as far as heavyweight contenders go.

Does it really make good TV? Maybe I'm the only one rather bored of TUF and who would rather not see the main titles being put on the back burner for months.

The UFC can afford to do this though. It may suck to not see both of them compete until the end of the year, but they have so much talent in their pool right now, they could both not fight until December 2009 and UFC would still be burning hot.

According to Tatame.com, interim UFC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has announced his assistant coaches for the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter season 8. Nogueira has hired current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and top UFC light heavyweight contender Lyoto Machida to assist him on the show.

Frank Mir announced a few days ago that his assistant coaches will be Rafael Alejarra & Robert Drysdale
Except for Silva, Nogueria & Machida being pretty bad at English, this is probably going to be the best group of coaches in TUF history.
