BJ Penn To Fight The Winner Of GSP vs. Jon Fitch
Quote:
UFC 87 will go a long way towards determining BJ Penn's future opponents. Expect the popular Hawaiian native to keep a close eye on two fights at the Minnesota event in particular.
Penn recently told Fighters Club TV that he is set to move up to 170 to challenge the winner of the UFC 87 main event between Georges St. Pierre and Jon Fitch. The fight, contingent on the health of the victor, will likely take place at the UFC's annual New Year's Eve card this December 27th in Las Vegas.
The other fight that Penn will be keeping close tabs on at UFC 87 is Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta. Penn stated that he plans to retain his lightweight title, despite challenging for the welterweight title, and will likely face the winner of Florian-Huerta.
He also left open the option of moving up to middleweight after cleaning out the light and welterweight divisions over the foreseeable future.

I hope GSP wins as GSP/Penn II would be great.

No. It wouldn't.
Silva would destroy Penn.
Penn is a great fighter no doubt, but I don't think he'd make a good middleweighter.

Didn't Dana say this kid was refocused and wasn't gonna come up with crazy plans?
Oh well.

Yeah, height, length and strength is just too big of a factor.
Anyway, like the TS said, I hope we get GSP/Penn II. It would be a great fight, no doubt. Penn's one of only two guys under the middleweight division who I can see giving GSP a run for his money. Nick Diaz is the other, but I don't think we'll be seeing him back in the UFC anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong about that, though.

I hope GSP knocks Penn back down to Earth.
Cleaning up the Light and Welterweight divisions and then go up to Middleweight? Seriously? I bet his next plan is to move up to Light Heavyweight once he owns Silva a few times.
Calling out Lesnar for a Catchweight fight wouldn't be a bad idea either.

He's fought @ heavyweight before so it's not a bad idea.
It's good for the sport anyway for him to be challenging all these champions.
