I was stunned upon reading he was the champion. Wow. Hopefully his run goes well.

It was surprisingly soon...just Sunday night, I was talking with a couple friends and we were all agreeing that as awesome as it'd be for Punk to cash in and bring a title back to Raw, it wouldn't be happening just yet, way too soon.
It was thought that his jump to Raw meant he was gonna get that build up towards winning the title...but instead, he gets the title, and then the build up comes after.
Well, JBL started off his only title reign not ready for the belt yet, I thought, but he grew into a great champion. I think if Punk gets to hold the belt for longer than just a month, then it'll turn into a pretty cool thing.

If he was on a role with considerable momentum like Edge did 3 years ago I bet most people would just go "well he had the momentum, I expected him to cash in at any time" and then would bitch about it being too predictable.
Morrison had zero build up when he won the ECW title and ended up being a pretty good champion.

I don't think it was at all.
No, he didn't have the best of runs with the briefcase but I totally marked when he cashed it in against Edge and won it. It was shocking to say the least.

It was fairly soon this year, but it was later than last.
I think it was the most opportune time due to the circumstances. I really couldn't see any other time that Punk could cash it in, and ay later he probably would have been in a feud with someone for it.

RVD cashed in a month before Punk did.

Making him look like a jobber before he won the title was a smart move. People will think he could lose the title at any time.

I'm not so sure they had that in mind though. ~_~
Either way it ended up making the whole thing a lot better.

tbh I'm glad it was the WHC rather than the WWE Title.

I was hoping that the WWE Title would make its way to Raw, but HHH was holding it, and the only way that would happen is if he returned to Raw. Glad Punk won.
