A WEEKLY MSN DISSCUSION COVERING MIXED MARTIAL ARTS TOPICS. AWESOME RIT.

WEEK SIX: POST 81, FRANK MIR AND A DANA-LESS UFC.
------------------------
------------------------
John says:
The table.
John says:
She's calling to be rounded.
Isaac says:
2 mins asian
Isaac says:
'Roundtable'
John says:
I believe it's time.
John says:
The hype has come full circle.
Isaac says:
It's been a while, actually.
John says:
Fuck us being busy.
Isaac says:
Yeah, fuck us! So, it's time. Time to discuss a multitude of topics this time around as it's been quite some time since the last time.
John says:
A slude of MMA subjects would you say?
Isaac says:
I wouldn't be wrong if I were to say that.
John says:
'Slude'
John says:
Alright, the obvious to kick it off; UFC 81
John says:
Thoughts?
Isaac says:
Good show, overall. Dissapointing opening contest but it picked up after that. No real shocks, though.
John says:
I was shocked to see Marquardt standing guillotine JEREMY FUCKIN' HORN of all people.
John says:
Big win for him.
Isaac says:
I wasn't shocked for that, I was a little upset, in fact; a little angry.
John says:
Jeremy Horn is a good man. If you don't atleast respect the guy, go fuck yourself. Honestly.
John says:
Hopefully he sticks around, UFC could use him big time in the middleweight division.
Isaac says:
I fear for him being the gatekeeper though. Phenomenal talent, but I just see him putting guys over, sadly.
John says:
Sadly true.
John says:
Alright, the next subject; Brock Lesnar - What impressed you about him? What didn't?
Isaac says:
I was impressed with how he came out like an angry cocksucker and took down Mir after 7 seconds. He escaped an armbar, got some shots in and didn't look intimidated at all. Having said that, I'm quite surprised he went down to the ground so early. Maybe it was a psycological thing for him; being able to take Mir down so easily, so early. His weaknesses are obvious.
John says:
Pretty much the same for me. We could both magnify on his weaknesses but I'm gonna try and steer clear of that. What impressed me was his attitude after the fight. Damn humble in defeat, if that ever rang true.
Isaac says:
After he stopped laughing.
John says:
Moving on; Nogueira. Do you think there's any SLIGHT chance Nog/Cro 2 could happen? Or is that my over-the-top CroCop mark taking over me?
Isaac says:
Over the top, unless something major happens. It was reported that Dana set a deadline on this Monday for Filipovic to let the UFC know what his plans were. Best case scenario is him going postal and destroying people in his next three fights (if they happen) and getting a shot againt Nog. Then when he loses RANDY COUTURE can come out of the bullshit storm and set up Couture/Crocop. That would OWN. Worst case is he fades away without showing what he's all about.
John says:
Do you think Werdum is worthy of the next title shot?
Isaac says:
Fuck Werdum.
John says:
I take that as a yes.
Isaac says:
Nice deduction. I saw that cocksucker live and I WASN'T IMPRESSED WITH HIS PERFORMANCE.
Isaac says:
You think he can sell as many tickets as a Cop or even a Kongo?
John says:
I'm sure he can get a ticket buy from MetalX atleast.
Isaac says:
Probably. But the Heavyweight division looks up either way. Brock can be a star, we have a worldclass champion, Mir is BACK!~, Sylvia didn't have a boring fight and guys like Herring, Kongo, Vera etc all have a chance to step up. A lot stronger than before Saturday, and I'd call it 'healthy' if Filipovic SIGNS THE PAPER.
Isaac says:
BREAKING NEWS: DMAC IS BACK.
John says:
John says:
I thought you rode him off with your ways.
John says:
But enough of that jobber.
Isaac says:
Enough.
John says:
Honestly, this may be the brighest START to a year by the UFC in...well...forever, really.
John says:
Two solid events with not so solid cards on paper.
Isaac says:
Great start, with 82, 83 and the next FN all looking very strong so far.
Isaac says:
By the way, YOUR spam of YOUR section is fucking embarrassing.
John says:
You don't help fix it with your 'nog/tim' and 'PLZ' posts.
Isaac says:
You should GO BACK TO WRESTLING. Speaking of wrestling, I have a new thought. WCW seems to class wrestling (in MMA) along with submissions, but my view is that the BJJ side of things is totaly different to the grappling side of things. Your take?
John says:
My take is your take. Wrestling isn't about submission, it's about grappling. BJJ is about working off your back and being dangerous from guard. You always hear that cliche saying 'WRESTLERS DON'T LIKE BEING ON THEIR BACK~!!'
Isaac says:
Yeah, wrestling is more about controlling posture on the ground, submission fighting is completely different. PROBABLY WHY BROCK LESNAR COULDN'T ESCAPE THE WEAKEST LEG LOCK I'VE EVER SEEN.
John says:
That was PERFECTLY set up by Mur though, man. Perfectly. Popped Lesnar's kneecap forward using his foot, worked the transition, and BAM.
John says:
Done.
Isaac says:
Stop being a blind mark.
John says:
I marked for Mir back when he was fat, therefore I'm better than the rest of the Mur marks.
Isaac says:
Undertaker's perfect GOGOPLATA!~ on SmackDown! was better than that amateur Mir getting lucky.
John says:
I like how they had the blood shit and everything.
Isaac says:
Internal bleeding. So, we've covered some good stuff. How about a curveball question; if Dana White stepped down tomorow, what would happen to the UFC?
John says:
Role Model's likely gonna hate me for this, but the guy is damn good for the UFC. He puts good fights together and he has constantly shown the attitude of wanting to prove 'who's the best fighter?'
John says:
I don't think they would be the same.
Isaac says:
I tend to agree. He's done a great job, no doubt. It doesn't change the fact he should BOOK THE FUCKING FIGHTS WHEN HE HAS THEM.
John says:
True enough. I think one of the biggest mistakes of Dana was not putting Cro/Couture together when he had it. Jackson got a title shot in his second fight in a WAY more stacked division, why not Cro?
Isaac says:
Good point. A lack of consitency, imo. CURVEBALL II!~ ; Heavyweight champion at the start of 2009?
John says:
Nogueira. Unless Couture comes back, I have a feeling we'll be seeing him champion for awhile, WHICH IS AWESOME.
John says:
He'll probably only fight maybe 2 or 3 more times max this year anyway, not too much to ask.
Isaac says:
So you don't think their will be a viable threat to his belt this year?
John says:
I honestly don't think there's too many heavyweights out there in the UFC heavyweight division that can outclass him. Stylistically, he has them all beat already.
John says:
He beat one of the biggest heavyweights in Tim already.
John says:
And one of the better big strikers in the division in Tim.
Isaac says:
Not even Mir?
John says:
Mir, stylistically, could be the toughest test. But it's still way too early to call, man. We're only 2 months into the new year.
John says:
Mir vs Sylvia 2 perhaps?
Isaac says:
It's a good fight to setup. It has history and Mir will get a shot if he wins. I could see that happening in the summer, actually. Unless they run with Brock/Sylvia.
John says:
Both could work. Brock was talking some shit about Sylvia prior to signing with the UFC, they could work the whole 'bad blood' angle easily.
Isaac says:
It's a good fight for Brock, actually. He gets the win over the former champ without the worry of getting caught on the ground.
John says:
If that fight does happen though, do you think it's a case of Brock Lesnar getting too much of a gift from the UFC? When was the last time a newcomer would get 2 of the divisions elite?
Isaac says:
I think it's clear to see that Dana has put a shit load of stock into him already, so it wouldn't shock anyone. They're obviously building him up to be a star, I don't think after all this they could afford, PR wise, to give him two cans.
John says:
They're attempting to build him into the next star clearly, but you can't build something if it's not able to. It's like soft clay.
Isaac says:
Soft clay is easier to build with, actually.
John says:
Fuck you. The next fight will answer questions, anyway.
Isaac says:
Questions that will be answered if he beats Sylvia.
Isaac says:
Theres fuck all point in protecting him if they're paying him a quater of a million dollars a fight. Thats insane.
John says:
True enough.
John says:
Then again, you match him against top competition and he keeps on losing; his credibility factor goes completely down. He may not gain credibility by beating cans, but he doesn't exactly lose any.
John says:
Two sided sword.
Isaac says:
It's a risk, but one which has already been taken. It would be a disaster if they fed him cans for the next two fights. What if he gets caught in one of those? Thats a LOT worse, PR wise, business wise, than if he were to lose to big Tim.
John says:
I guess it's truly a case of starting something, and finishing it. Lesnar started with a big name, and it's not gonna stop anytime soon.
John says:
This guy is really gonna have to step his game up.
Isaac says:
Basically my thoughts.
Isaac says:
Before I forget, an announcement about the MMA Division in the Debate League will be made when the results of 'Shinebox Time' are in. The format, competitors and details will be annouced. It is advisable to PM Mac if you want in. I'm done plugging. Final thoughts?
John says:
I'd like to wish MetalX good luck, and to put a pillow where his ass is, BECAUSE I'M GONNA FUCKIN' OWN YOU. <3
Isaac says:
Sounds fair. Well, this week is done. Goodbye, fucktards.
John says:
Have a good one. Order 82 or fuck yourself.
John says:
*fade*
