Raw Discussion thread for 6/23/08: The 2008 WWE DRAFT~

They've had Taker vs Edge forever because everybody else has been on Raw, that might be one of the reasons they're having the draft, to even things out a bit more. Even the reports are saying one of the reasons Taker left was that the fued needed a break. Batista's going to Raw so he's out of it at least, if they draft another top guy like Orton it'll add some freshness to their main event.

The only reason I could see him not being drafted is because he's injured and they might want to make all the picks create immediate impact, but he could still end up on SmackDown!.

I just do not understand how Edge and Orton could work in the same title scene. They could form Rated RKO again , but someone would want the title. Turning either face would be a mistake. I was kind of hoping Batista and Orton would form a stable like they teased at One Night Stand.

They don't always both have to be in the title scene. Look at Michaels, he's been out of the title scene on Raw for a year (and he was only in because HHH was injured) and he's more established than both of them. If he can get out of it, one of them can, and considering he's been in forever, it would probably be Edge for the time being.

I can see it working if Edge becomes embroiled in a feud with someone else following his wedding disaster, dropping the title to a face, and allowing Orton to climb to the top upon his return and win the title. I just do not know who this face would be because Undertaker and Edge have wrestled ten trillion times and Orton and 'Taker are close.

Arjun, if Orton gets drafted to SmackDown!, he'll be thrown into the main event again almost immediately. That won't happen if he's on RAW, his main event push would be on pause if he was on RAW as he just had a 6 month reign.

SLAM! Wrestling has a really good article on Batista. He notes that he doesn't want to change brands during the WWE Draft. "Personally, I would love to stay on Smackdown," Batista said. "I feel like I've worked really hard with other guys to really build Smackdown. I'm very proud of what we've achieved the past two years. Smackdown's my home and it's where I going to stay." He also talks about his happiness with his storyline with Shawn Michaels, wanting to meet Bret Hart, his womenizing, Ric Flair, generally boycotting the internet ("I started boycotting the internet a long time ago when I realized how much negativity there was. And I take a lot of stuff personally, especially early back in my career. So I just avoid it. I realize I'm probably giving up the good stuff too but I just feel that there's more negativity on the internet than there is positive."), people thinking he's arrogant, and more. He also says he doesn't have MySpace of Facebook.

I guess. I just hope that feuding with the Undertaker does not become old quickly again and being top heel does not ruin him like it did Edge.
